Plan the layout for a residential sanitary drainage system

Unit Descriptor This unit specifies the competency required to plan the layout for sanitary drainage systems for residential buildings Work associated with this unit is undertaken within the plumbing and services sector in accordance with relevant Australian standards and local statutory codes. It has application to the sanitary stream.

ELEMENTPERFORMANCE CRITERIA
1 . Prepare for work
  1. Information and plans/specifications are obtained

  2. OH&S requirements associated with planning the layout for sanitary drainage systems, and the workplace environment, are adhered to throughout the work

  3. Quality assurance requirements are identified and adhered to in accordance with workplace requirements

  4. Tasks are planned and sequenced in conjunction with others involved in or affected by the work

  5. Tools and equipment, including personal safety equipment, are selected and checked for serviceability

  6. Work area is prepared to support the efficient planning of sanitary drainage systems layouts

2 . Plan the system layout

  1. Site inspection is undertaken to determine job requirements

  2. Quantity, location and type of fixtures is determined from design drawings, plans and elevations

  3. Layout of the sanitary drainage system is planned in accordance with the plans and standards

  4. Materials and fixtures required are determined from the proposed design

  5. Plans are recorded in accordance with workplace requirements

3 . Clean up

  1. Work area is cleared and materials disposed of or recycled in accordance with State or Territory legislation and workplace procedures

  2. Tools and equipment are cleaned, checked, maintained and stored in accordance with manufacturers' recommendations and workplace procedures

  3. Documentation is completed in accordance with workplace requirements
