Unit Descriptor This unit covers the skills and knowledge required organise own work when operating in a home-based/outside work environment

ELEMENTPERFORMANCE CRITERIA
1 . Confirm drop-off and pick up arrangements
  1. Relevant personnel in the client organisation are identified and contacted

  2. Drop off and pick up arrangements are confirmed with relevant personnel

2 . Establish and agree upon quality procedures
  1. The steps required to complete the work are confirmed with appropriate personnel in the client organisation

  2. Quality requirements of the client organisation are confirmed and interpreted

  3. Work assessed in accordance with agreed steps and quality criteria

  4. Work is regularly checked against specifications and agreed quality standards and action is taken to rectify work which is not in accordance with requirements

3 . Set up home-based workplace
  1. Workbench and seating are set up according to workplace ergonomic standards

  2. Machines are cleaned and checked in accordance with standard home-based work procedures

  3. Machines are set up and adjusted in accordance with workplace procedures and the specifications for the work attachments and/or parts are checked

  4. Problems with machines and equipment are identified and either fixed, or referred to an appropriate maintenance organisation

4 . Keep records of work
  1. Home-based work record system is established in accordance with standard home-based work practice and the relevant industrial award

  2. Records are kept in accordance with record system requirements

5 . Implement workplace health and safety practices
  1. Workplace health and safety precautions and procedures are identified and followed

  2. Action is taken in accordance with workplace procedures to prevent accidents and to eliminate risks to personal safety
